Mother’s Day weekend: Gov. Kay Ivey signs tax cut on feminine products

Feminine products are now exempt from Alabama sales tax starting Sept. 1. Gov. Kay Ivey signed House Bill 152 into law on Friday, cutting the state sales tax on these necessities. The signing took place just before Mother’s Day weekend. This covers products such as certain baby supplies, maternity clothing and menstrual hygiene products. Baby supplies such as baby formula, baby bottles, baby wipes, breast milk pumping equipment and diapers are also included in the bill.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. —

Feminine products are now exempt from Alabama sales tax starting Sept. 1.

Gov. Kay Ivey signed House Bill 152 into law on Friday, cutting the state sales tax on these necessities. The signing took place just before Mother’s Day weekend.

This covers products such as certain baby supplies, maternity clothing and menstrual hygiene products. Baby supplies such as baby formula, baby bottles, baby wipes, breast milk pumping equipment and diapers are also included in the bill.
